COVID pandemic. An attempt at balance from the point of view of faith
Main Article Content
Abstract
The article tries to answer the questions of how the COVID-19 pandemic has verified the functioning of the Church, the faith of Christians and the image of God that is in our hearts. The balance after the pandemic is not very positive. Apart from the very beautiful examples of self-sacrifice of hospital chaplains during this difficult time, there were quite a few priests who did not up to the task and did not visit the sick. As for faith, it was quite often limited to prayer for protection from infection and requests for healing; often the key element was missing, which was complete trust in God, expressed in the words “Thy will be done“. This fact indicates a deeper problem of faith among Polish Catholics – they often have an image of God as a guardian who is to protect them from all diseases, suffering and death.
