Logic as an object of philosophical interests of rev. prof. Józef Iwanicki

Abstract

Among many different philosophical interests of ks. prof. J. Iwanicki (rector of KUL in 1951–1956 and rector of ATK in 1965–1972), his studies on logic (its relation to philosophical sciences, and especially the role of contemporary logic in the so-called defining philosophy) deserve special attention.


That is why the article presents ks. prof. Iwanicki’s comparison of natural and logistic deduction (1), then his contemporary interpretations of Aristotle syllogistics (2), and finally the problem of the applicability of contemporary formal logic to philosophy (3). In the summary, the characteristics of his logical research and the results he came to are given.
