Abstract
This article is an attempt to show how St. Therese of the Child Jesus and the Holy Face perceived the priesthood (based on her autobiographical writings and letters addressed to priests). The first part of the article presents the priestly desires of St. Therese of Lisieux, and shows her as the “Apostle of the Apostles” – supporting the priests with prayer and correspondence. The article outlines the essential features of the “identity of the priest”, which include conforming to Christ the Servant and the spirit of renunciation. The article also shows the essential elements of priestly spirituality, among which the most important place is occupied by living the Eucharist, uniting with Christ, making one’s life a Mass, offering oneself with Jesus and striving to be transformed (transubstantiated) into Jesus.
