Abstract

In the ecumenical dialogue between Catholic Church and Orthodox Churches the significant role is being played by the relationships between the Holy See and Moscow Patriarchy, hence the Russian Orthodox Church is the most numerous Orthodox community. Moscow’s aversion and prejudices towards to Catholic Church, and above all, the accusations of proselitism and uniatism make these relationships „unique”. Russian aspirations to see Moscow as „The Third Rome” are not negligible, as well as considering Catholic Church as an enemy and the lack of Moscow Patriarchy’s involving in the prayer for Christians unity. Despite of these difficulties, in 2016 the historical meeting between Pope Francis and Patriarch Kirill of Moscow that can be an inspiration for more intensified dialogue was held.
